Applications for 2011 AANS International Visiting Surgeons Fellowship Accepted through August 31, 2010

The AANS will be accepting online applications for the 2011 AANS International Visiting Surgeons Fellowship through August 31, 2010.

The AANS International Visiting Surgeons Fellowship is an effort by the AANS to assist colleaguesin developing countries with an educational experience at a North American Neurosurgical Training Program. The length of the fellowship is typically three months, and recipients receive a monthly stipend of $1,500 plus round-trip coach airfare to the fellowship location.

Applicants must be neurosurgeons or neurosurgeons-in-training in a developing country as defined by the World Bank. Applicants should be on staff at a local hospital (and preferably medical school) involved in neurosurgical patient care and neurosurgical education. The recipient must begin the visit by May 1, 2011. APPLICATION SUBMISSION

Applications are online at http://www.MyAANS.org. Applicants must register for the site in order to log in. If you do not have a username and password, click on the option that reads “If you have never logged in before, please register here.”

Once logged in, select “Grant/Scholarship Applications” from the links on the left side. Only applicants from eligible countries will be allowed into the application area. To begin an application, select “Create a New Application” (the second bullet point at the top).  Then choose the “International Visiting Surgeon” from the options in the box, and click on “continue.”
